Dental Implants

Replace your removable dentures with the modern solution to missing teeth – permanent dental implants.

Do you want a long term solution for a lifetime of wear and tear on your teeth?

Dentists at Precise Dental Surgery here at Precise Dental Surgery provide dental implants for patients with missing teeth or who are seeking an alternative to dentures. Missing teeth can have a negative effect on our eating patterns, our self-image and can potentially lead to bone loss. Dentists at Precise Dental Surgery at our Beaumont Hills, Edgecliff and Kellyville Village practice locations believe that often the best long term solution for missing teeth is dental implants.

There are many advantages to dental implants including:

  • Dental implants can be visually appealing
Dental implants are arguably the closest thing to natural teeth that modern dentistry can provide. The implants are inserted into your jawbone and fuse together in a process known as osseointegration. Since they integrate into your jawbone like natural teeth, they are often considered the most effective way to prevent bone loss and gum recession.
  • Dental implants can save your natural teeth
Dental implants don’t sacrifice the quality of your adjacent teeth like a bridge can because the neighbouring teeth are not altered to support the implant. More of your own teeth are left untouched, which can be a significant long-term benefit to your oral health.
  • Dental Implants can inspire a confident smile
With dental implants you can eliminate the need for denture pastes and glues, as well as worrying about your dentures slipping out of place. Since dental implants act and feel like natural teeth, you can once again speak and smile with confidence.
  • Dental implant treatment is reliable
Dental implant treatment is one of the most reliable modern restorative dentistry treatments and the successful outcome is highly predictable.

Who is a suitable candidate to receive dental implants?

Dental implants are a suitable solution for tooth loss for most of our patients. While the implants are titanium and the crown is normally made from a porcelain material, dental implants still function remarkably similar to your natural teeth. This remarkable similarity in function and appearance means that most people are suitable candidates to wear dental implants.

During your initial consultation we will discuss your dental concerns and assess your dental health. When discussing the option of dental implants we will most be predominantly assessing your:

  • Overall health
While the dental implant process can be comfortable with our sleep dentistry and pain management options, it is still important that you maintain sound general health. If you are healthy your body is that much more likely to respond positively to your treatment.
  • The condition of your gums
The health of your gums is considered when we are discussing restoring your tooth loss with dental implants. Your gums act as the placeholder for your teeth and thus the health of them can affect the health of your teeth, as well as your overall dental health.
  • The density of your jawbone
The dental implant ‘screws’ are placed in your jawbone and require a certain level of jawbone density in order for the implants to be successful. Despite this, for our patients that do not have enough jawbone to support the implant process, they can also receive a bone graft in order to achieve the level of jawbone density required.

During your initial consultation we can discuss the implant process with you and identify whether this treatment would be a desirable option for you.

Frequently asked questions

What is Pola Whitening?

Pola whitening is an effective teeth whitening product that we use here at Precise Dental Surgery to help ensure our patients can smile with confidence. We provide in-chair and take home teeth whitening treatments.

What are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are small thin porcelain shells that are placed directly on top of your teeth. They can eliminate gaps between teeth, tooth discolouration and broken / chipped teeth.

What are Dental Crowns?

Like veneers, dental crowns are made of porcelain and act as a cap or crown for your teeth. They are often combined with dental bridges to replace missing teeth.

When should my child start seeing the dentist?

We recommend your child starts visiting the dentist from an early age, preferably when they are around 7 years old.

What is the difference between conventional braces and Invisalign?

There are many differences between Invisalign and conventional braces. For example, with Invisalign you can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing as Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible. Invisalign aligners are also removable meaning you can brush and floss as you would normally – this is something you cannot do with conventional braces. Despite this, conventional braces can be a more suitable option for those with more subnational orthodontic concerns.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are widely considered the modern solution to missing teeth and dentures. Replace missing teeth with dental implants which act and feel like normal teeth. They consist of a titanium screw-like post which is implanted into the jawbone. The implant will then bond with your jawbone to provide stimulation and support for a dental crown or bridge.

What is a root canal?

The root canal is the space within the root of a tooth. Root canal treatment is recommended for patients with infected tooth pulps. The best indication of infection is severe dental pain or sensitivity.

How can you restore my smile?

Advancements in dental technology allow us to completely restore a patient’s smile. There are a variety of treatments that may be suggested. We recommend you visit our practice and schedule in a dental consultation. This allows us to assess your dental health and develop a plan of action to ensure you have healthy teeth for life.

My wisdom teeth are causing pain. Should I have them removed?

Because often modern jaws are not big enough to accommodate these extra teeth, in the majority of cases we do recommend they are removed. We recommend you come into our practice for a thorough examination to determine the path we take in ensuring your dental health.

I am afraid of the dentist. Do you offer virtually pain free dentistry?

For anxious patients, we provide a number of pain management options including happy gas and sleep dentistry to ensure that these patients can receive the dental work they need. To learn more please visit our sleep dentist page.

How often should I visit the dentist for a dental check-up?

We recommend you visit our practice every 6 months for your dental check-up and fluoride treatment. This way minors dental issues can be addressed before they potentially become major problems.
